CONTINUOUS EMERGENCE OF NEW TRAVEL NEEDS
This research is referred to the urban commercial - transport in the region of Kozani. Its connection with Epirus and the rest of Macedonia via the Egnatia Motorway about 15 years ago designated the city an important hub of the wider region of Western Macedonia. As a result, new needs have arisen with regard to the transportation of goods, which the existing structures currently don’t get above. This situation compels the city to remain static and not to make the most of the given opportunities.
THE LIMITED AND DATED TRANSPORT SYSTEMS IN THE REGION
The transport systems that are currently used in Kozani are limited and lead to increased emission of pollutants, without any plan regarding their "smart" management. Taking all these into account, it is essential to develop a system that will improve the existing structures and will solve the problems that arise.
PROPOSALS WITH OPTIMIZATION PERSPECTIVES
Some epigrammatic ideas that aim at optimizing and developing urban- commercial transport in Kozani region, while promoting green growth and better quality of life, are discussed below. All the ideas are analyzed in the research.
